The Christian religion has its place, but it can never be a substitute in place of a heart being right with God.

“Trust in the Lord with all your HEART and lean not on your own understanding.

It is impossible to love God with all one’s heart and retain attachments to things in this world.
The rich young ruler found that out and turned away sorrowful. His attachments to this world were too much to give up for eternal life.
As water reflects the face, so one’s life reflects the heart.
